What should I do if I don't have one of the access documents?
If the admission requirements are not met , there are other ways of gaining access to higher education.
Passing exams to obtain the CESS
- via the Jury of the French Community,
- via training provided by secondary social promotion education. You will find information directly from the establishments.
Passing exams or tests leading to a certificate of admission to higher education
Good to know: passing this exam is not equivalent to the CESS and therefore does not always offer the same rights, particularly in terms of employment. This attestation does not necessarily give access to all types of study or to all establishments.

- Rules and subjects: the general rules and subjects are common to all the establishments organising the exam. See also the school manuals, software and teaching tools on the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles website ;
- Organisers: ULiège, UCL , ULB and UMONS ;
- Full access: to all establishments and all courses.
- Organised by: the university colleges and higher-education institutions for social promotion which provide this training;
- Portability limited: to the curriculum selected and the institution where the exam took place
- Organised by: The French Community paramedical examination board;
- Portability limited: to the two curricula and to the institutions that offer them.
- Organised by: adult education institutions;
- Portability limited: to the course units of the curriculum selected and the institution where the test was given.
Admission based on recognition of prior experience and learning (personalised admission via APEL)
The higher education institutions can recognise all or some of the credits earned during higher education studies and all knowledge and competences acquired through professional and/or personal experience (minimum five years).

- Portability limited: to the curriculum chosen at the institution selected.
