What are the general conditions for admission?
Having a Belgian certificate or diploma
To start studying in higher education in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, you must be in possession of your certificate of upper secondary education (CESS) issued by an establishment in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the Flemish Community or the German-speaking Community.
Have an upper secondary education diploma from abroad
In this case, you must obtain an equivalence for your diploma. For information on how to apply for equivalence, consult the General Administration of Education website. Please note that there are deadlines.
Having a Belgian higher education diploma
If you already have a higher education diploma issued by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the Flemish Community, the German-speaking Community or the Royal Military School (ERM), it will also give you access to higher education studies in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
Having a higher education qualification from abroad
Have you obtained a higher education qualification abroad and would like to continue your higher education studies? Apply directly to the higher education establishment where you wish to continue your studies. They will decide whether to admit you and analyse whether your bachelor's or master's programme requires a request for equivalence. Please note that the departments to which you should apply are not the same if you are applying for equivalence for a CESS (secondary education equivalence department) or a bachelor's degree (higher education equivalence department).
You don't have any of these access requirements?
There are several ways of gaining access to higher education.
