Additional enrolment conditions for engineering
Entry exam?
Before enrolling in the Bachelor of Engineering Science programme, you must pass the special admission exam for the first cycle of the engineering programme.
The subjects included in the admission exam consist solely of mathematics for students who hold the following diplomas or certificates:
- certificate of upper secondary education issued from 93-94 onwards,
- certificate of upper secondary education issued no later than the end of the 1992-1993 school year, accompanied by the diploma of aptitude for access to higher education,
- diploma awarded by a higher education establishment in the French Community attesting to an academic degree or a diploma awarded by a university institution or a fully-fledged higher education establishment under previous legislation,
- a foreign diploma or certificate recognised as equivalent to the above. For further information on the equivalence procedure, consult the French Community website of the Directorate-General for Compulsory Education,
- attestation of successful completion of one of the entrance examinations organised by higher education establishments or by a jury of the French Community; this attestation gives access to studies in the sectors or fields it indicates,
- certificate of secondary education issued by the Flemish Community, the German-speaking Community or the Royal Military School,
- title of higher education for social advancement.
Other candidates (those who do not have one of the above-mentioned qualifications) must first passthe exam giving access to higher education first cycle studies which covers the following subjects: French; mathematics; science (physics, chemistry, biology, geography); history; a second language: Dutch, English, German or Latin, as chosen by the student.
Special entrance examination programme
All students are tested in writing on the five mathematics subjects, of which the programme of the special admission exam consists. This exam covers the mathematics programme of the last three years of secondary education (math focus), i.e. :
- algebra
- analysis
- geometry
- analytical geometry
- trigonometry

Registration procedures
The exam is organised each year in July and September by the universities concerned. The exam can only be taken once per session. Multiple registrations (at several universities) are therefore not possible.
